Ruchel Louis Coetzee s autobiography, Pulani, tells the coming of age story of a white South African girl growing up in Apartheid South Africa in the 60s and 70s Ruchel wrote the book to explain her background to people she met when she and her husband, Pieter, emigrated to the USA with their children I would never have known about this book had I not been to school with Ruchel, who was in the year above me When I became a Facebook friend of hers, I noticed she had advertised the book on her facebook page It took me ages to get around to buying a copy on , but now that I have it, I consider it to be very much a part of my Africana Collection I would encourage anyone who has any interest in the history of South Africa to read the book It is a very easy read, and if you grew up in South Africa, you will find it particularly interesting I loved it.
